Gallagher Square is the jewel of Petco Park and at the heart of the San Diego community. This public park and community gathering space will be closed for the 2020 Padres home games, but open for Padres away game viewing parties.
Play Ball Field
Improvements have also been made to the Play Ball Field located in Gallagher Square to be more maintenance-friendly and provide greater long-term durability for Petco Park’s expansive event schedule. Upgrades include replacing the natural surface with a state-of-the-art artificial surface and more than 6,800 square feet of new turf with clay-colored base paths and a pitchers’ mound provided and installed by Tough Turtle Turf. A new, easily removable fence will also be installed surrounding the Play Ball Field.
