Natural Grass Ban

In 2021, new state legislation passed that bans the use of natural grass in any future real estate developments.

The resolution’s aim is to reduce Nevada’s water consumption, which is currently at an astounding 112 gallons of water per person, per day.

The Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) aims to reach this goal by removing ALL natural grass from any upcoming real estate developments

What does this mean for Vegas homeowners?

Previously you were limited to only 50 percent of natural grass for residential backyards, with a full ban on natural grass additions to front yards.
Now, no real grass of any kind can be used in new home builds.
Developments will be restricted from using authentic grass in nearly every instance. (Exceptions include schools, parks, and cemeteries.)
